A seasoned advocate with a practical approach
Kim Akins is an experienced attorney based out of Klie Law Offices’ Canton office, with a broad background in family law, litigation, and public service. She has represented clients in complex family law matters, including divorce, dissolution, child custody, and related domestic relations proceedings, in multiple jurisdictions.
Her extensive litigation experience includes criminal and civil matters at the municipal, trial, juvenile, domestic relations, and appellate levels. She has also handled adoptions, guardianships, and other probate matters, as well as employment and business-related disputes.
Kim’s experience extends beyond private practice. She has served as a City Prosecutor, Staff Attorney with Mahoning County Child Support, and General Counsel for a technology company. These positions have given her substantial experience navigating complicated legal, governmental, and interpersonal issues and finding practical solutions.
A longtime legal educator, Kim has taught courses in Legal Research and Writing, Civil Procedure, Contract Law, Business Law, Ethics, and Wills, Trusts and Estates. She earned her J.D. from the University of Akron School of Law and her B.A. from Denison University.
Kim approaches family law with the understanding that legal disputes are often among the most difficult and personal challenges a client will face. Her goal is to provide knowledgeable, practical advocacy while helping clients navigate the legal process with clarity and confidence.
