What are right to work laws?
West Virginia’s Right-To-Work laws have been the source of constant debate since they were first enacted in 2016. A West Virginia judge blocked the state’s Right-To-Work law from going into effect. Then West Virginia’s Supreme Court ruled that the law is constitutional.
Being a right-to-work state means that workers can choose whether or not they want to join a union, even if they work at a unionized company. Many labor unions contend that such laws reduce their ability to effectively negotiate on behalf of workers.
